Obituary -Roy E. "Whip" Wilson

Obituary

Roy E. “Whip” Wilson, of Harrison Township, died in his residence on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at the age of 80..

Roy was born Feb. 13, 1934, in Tarentum, he was a son of the late Lloyd E. and Marie Bowman Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Bulles) Wilson, of 47 years. He was the dear father of Margaret Wilson, of Natrona Heights, Gregory Wilson, of Lower Burrell, Edward Wilson, of Port Orchard, Wash., Michael Wilson, Markus Wilson and the late Thomas and Ronald Wilson; grandfather of five; great-grandfather of three; and brother of Robert G. (Marianne) Wilson, of Tarentum, and the late Lloyd (the late Audrey) Wilson.

Roy was a retired airplane mechanic for the U.S. government, and served during the Vietnam and Korean wars in the Air Force. During his career, Roy worked at Lockheed Aircraft at Kennedy airport. After his retirement, he worked as security at David Lawrence Convention Center.

Roy graduated from Tarentum High School, class of 1952, and was a member of Alle-Kiski Historical Society. He loved to fish and work in his garden. He was also a lifetime member of Natrona Heights VFW and Disabled American Veterans.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service interment at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at LAKEWOOD MEMORIAL GARDENS, 943 Route 910, Cheswick, PA 15024, in the chapel at the cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Love officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Plum American Legion.
