Obituary - Valeria Novotny

Obituary

Valeria Novotny, 92, of Oakmont, formerly of Beaver Falls, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the age of 92, in The Willows Presbyterian SeniorCare, Oakmont.

Valeria was the beloved wife of the late Stephen G. Novotny; dear mother of Valerie (Jerry) Novotny-Dinsdale, Irene (Dave) Tkacik, Steve (Stefoni) Novotny and Victor Novotny; sister of the late Mario, Anna, Maria, Vittorio, Luigi and Lodovico; grandmother of nine children and great-grandmother of five.

Valeria married her husband, Stephen, in 1948, who was a US soldier, serving in the 88th Battalion. He was stationed in Trieste, Italy at the time. She came to the United States with her husband aboard the Queen Mary. She was employed at Beaver Medical Center as an LPN for many years.

Being a member of the former St. Mary’s Church, Beaver Falls, was a very important part of her life. She sang in the choir, was active in the Christian Mother’s Guild, and the ladies sewing circle, where Valeria crocheted a beautiful blanket for every new baby. Her Italian dishes were savored by her family members and many friends. She was very proud of her heritage.

Friends and relatives are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, in St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, 385 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaver Falls.

Arrangements are by BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue., Oakmont.
