Wayne V. Moon Jr., a long time resident of O’ Hara Township, died in Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg on Saturday, November 15, at the age of 86.
Rejoice with his wife, Doris and children, Mark and Lorrie, that after 7-1/2 years of dementia he is now at peace. Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg cared lovingly for Wayne and his family during those years.
Wayne leaves behind his wife Doris of Cabot and son, Mark Moon of New Kensington and daughter, Lorrie Kasper of Harmony Township ; and proceeded in death by his sister Ethel Wenrich.
After graduating from Mars High School in 1946, Wayne served in the Army in Italy during World War II, after which he attended California State Teachers College (now Cal U), graduating with a degree in Industrial Arts in 1952 and married Doris Furlong, a California resident.
Wayne taught at Penn Hills School District and retired as Director of Buildings and Grounds in 1982. Generous with his time and abilities, Wayne volunteered in church, community and neighbors with his manual skills.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 (which would have been Wayne’s 87th birthday) from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the English Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 378 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA, 15139. A Funeral service and interment will be private.
