Incumbent Frank Dermody, a Democrat from Oakmont, and Republican Gerry Vaerewyck of West Deer will go head to head once more in November. Both ran for the position two years ago. The district covers Oakmont and Plum boroughs.

Education: He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Columbia University in 1973. In 1982, he received his law degree from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington
Employment History: Worked as an assistant public defender in Harrisburg and then as assistant district attorney in Allegheny County. He also was the District Justice in Oakmont and Verona, and is a former CCAC instructor.
