Plum Man Faces DUI Charges After Hitting Young Bicyclist

Here's a look at the Plum police reports for April 9 to 15.

A Plum man is facing several charges after being accused of hitting a teenager on his bicycle with his car.

On April 2, police were called to Unity Center Road near College Avenue after reports of a bicyclist being hit by a motorist. A 15-year-old on a bicycle sustained face, shoulder and ankle injuries and was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment.

The motorist, Dominic Anthony Tavella, 23, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, prohibited acts, accidents involving injuries, driving with a suspended license, registration required and required financial responsibility.

The following incidents also were reported to the Plum Police Department. Information was obtained from police reports.

Theft

William John Peterman III, 25, of Plum; and Vincent Donald Tavella, 26, of Trafford were charged with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy. They are accused of stealing jewelry from a Center Hill Road resident and selling it to Gold Buyers on Route 22 in Monroeville.

Firearms

David Michael Pekarak, 26, of East Pittsburgh was charged with firearms not to be carried without a license and two counts of prohibited acts after an April 7 incident at Big Dogs on Boyce Park Drive.

Drugs

Garrett Logan Lott, 25, of Penn Hills was charged with prohibited acts after a March 30 incident on New Texas Road.

Brandon Michael Becker, 22, of New Kensington was charged with manufacturing, delivering or possessing a controlled substance; possessing a controlled substance; windshield obstruction; operating a vehicle without official certificate; and three counts of prohibited acts after a March 22 incident on Milltown Road.

DUI

Andrea Heather Nelson, 31, of Plum was charged with texting and driving, careless driving and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after an April 6 traffic stop on Greensburg Road.

Assault

Jeremy Earliwine, 20, of Plum was charged with simple assault and harassment after a March 4 incident on Creole Drive.

Criminal mischief

A Duquesne Boulevard resident reported that her home was egged on April 2. She also reported that her car had been scratched within the last few weeks.

An Aberdeen Drive resident reported that her car had been scratched while it was parked at the East Suburban YMCA on Route 286.

Public intoxication

Michael Andrew Baird, 25, of Plum was charged with public intoxication after an April 5 incident on Regency Drive.

Disorderly conduct

Karen Natalie Sipe, 58, of Plum was charged with disorderly conduct after an incident on Carriage Boulevard. Police accuse her of calling 911 several times on April 2.
