Small Aircraft Crashes at Monroeville Airport Near Plum Border

Plane was on fire, minor injuries reported.

A small aircraft caught fire after crashing late Sunday afternoon at the Harold W. Brown Memorial Airfield, a small, privately-owned airport in Monroeville.

Officials are reporting the pilot and a passenger suffered minor injuries. Firefighters at the scene were applying foam to the airplane to extinguish the fire, which appears to have occurred on the front left side of the plane.

The plane's number is N6936N and has a white and aqua-green tail.

Monroeville fire units were dispatched to the scene around 5:30 p.m. and were released from the scene after 7:15 p.m.

The airport, officially known as the Pittsburgh-Monroeville Airport, is located off Logans Ferry Road, near the Plum Borough border.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified by local officials.
