Twenty New Food Establishments Opened in July

The Allegheny County Health Department has reported that twenty new food establishments opened in the County in July. There were thirteen restaurants, two grocery stores, two confectionaries, one coffee shop, a convenience store and a mobile vendor.

“The Health Department’s monthly report highlights the new restaurants that use trans-fat free cooking oils. Nine of the thirteen eateries that opened last month cook with these healthier oils,” said Health Director Dr. Karen Hacker.

The establishments using trans-fat free cooking oils are Hundred Wood, 100 Wood Street, Downtown; DiSilva’s Pizzeria, 3600 Brownsville Road and Mike & Dave’s Boardwalk Sandwich Shop, 3536 Saw Mill Run Boulevard, both in Brentwood; Z-Best Barbeque Chicken & Ribs, 1315 Fifth Avenue, Uptown; Pizza Palermo, 45 Foster Avenue, Crafton; La Vostra Pizza, 2056 Saxonburg Boulevard, Indiana; Green Beans Coffee Company, Pittsburgh International Airport, Findlay; Bob’s Diner, 1870 Painter’s Run Road, Upper St. Clair; and Candies Soul Food, 2443 Wylie Avenue, Hill District.

Other new restaurants include Franco’s Restaurant, 8 Brilliant Avenue, Aspinwall; Bob’s Sub, 1713 Freeport Road, Cheswick; Kasai, 146 East Main Street, Carnegie; and Rum Runners, 3385 Babcock Boulevard, Ross.

Seven additional food establishments opened last month: D & B Variety Store, 4417 Butler Street, Lawrenceville; Rolling Cones Food Truck, Variable Locations; Sincerely Yogurt – Waterfront, 232 West Bridge Street, Homestead; Pinkberry, Pittsburgh International Airport, Findlay; Shree Sharam Enterprise, 2000 South Braddock Avenue, Swissvale; Dollar Tree, 1630 Arlington Avenue, Mt. Oliver; and Asian-African Grocery Store, 1810 Brownsville Road, Carrick.
