Verona's New Olde Bank Theatre to Present "Six Degrees of Separation"

The show opens Sept. 16.

The New Olde Bank Theatre in Verona will raise the curtain on John Guare’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, "Six Degrees of Separation" on Sept. 16.

A provocative exploration of race and class, "Six Degrees of Separation" explores the existential premise that everyone in the world is connected to everyone else in the world by a chain of no more than six acquaintances. The plot of the play was inspired by the real-life story of David Hampton, a con man who managed to convince a number of people in the 1980s that he was the son of actor Sidney Poitier.

In Guare’s play, a wealthy white couple (Ouisa and Flan Kittredge) find their lives turned upside down when they are conned by a young black man (Paul Poitier).
