Officers arrived and took the man into custody without further incident. The man was unarmed when he was arrested.

"There is no threat to the school," the Springfield Township Police Department said in a statement on the situation Tuesday. " At no time did he make entry into the school. There is no threat to public safety in reference to this incident."

St. Paul's issued a statement on the incident, saying that children were not made aware of what had happened.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding as we took care of this situation as best we could. Safety is a top priority for us and we encourage you to continue to only let yourself in with your key fob. The kids are unaware of the situation so use your judgement when discussing with them."

The man, who has not yet been identified, has been charged with terroristic threats and is awaiting arraignment.
