Officers confronted him on the Cross County Trail near the Barnes and Noble store. Anderson-James refused to stop and refused to take his hands out of his pocket, according to officials.
A struggle ensured, during which Anderson-James took one of the officer's tasers, then later tried to pull the officer's pistol from its holster, police said.
The officer was able to hold onto his gun before Anderson-James was controlled and put under arrest.
Two officers were injured during the incident. Both were released from the hospital, though one is expected to miss time due to recovery from an army injury.
Anderson-James was charged with aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer, stalking, simple assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault, and violating the protection from abuse order.
Anderson-James was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 10.
