A Weis Addition to Conshohocken?
Find out what reviewers said about other Weis locations.

While of the sale of to Weis Supermarkets drew nostalgic sighs from some, we at Patch decided to see what others thought about Weis. Here's our quick look at the chain and what its impending arrival could mean for Plymouth Square grocery shoppers.
Founded in 1912 in Sunbury, PA, that store has since grown to 161 locations in five states. Weis tends toward more rural and small town locations—at present, the three closest locations to Conshohocken are in Lansdale, Pottstown, and Pennsburg—and, in addition to the more common labels, sells a variety of Weis-brand goods at each of its stores. Most Weises have an in-store bakery and pharmacy.
Despite the chain’s proud history though, on online review sites, customers gave the stores mixed marks.

“When I lived near Millersville, I went here for all of my grocery needs. At the time I hated it and considered it a dump. Now I wish I had a Weis. The prices were SO much cheaper than anything I have here in Philly,” wrote Yelp user Tom G in a representative review of a Lancaster location.
“But in context of Lancaster living it's the basic grocery. Average selection, average prices, crummy staff, crummier patrons. Kinda run down.”

Closer to home, CitySearch reviewer Wendy S gave the Pottstown location three stars out of five and characterized it as just “okay.”
“This location is very outdated and the store needs updating. It has a lot of what you need and the prices are good but many departments are empty after [4 p.m.] if you need help.”
Wendy went on to write that while there is plenty of parking, the lighting within the store is subpar and the customer service is spotty.
“Ever since they took over the markets in Binghamton, the price has gone up and all name brands are gone. They are force feeding the Broome county market their high-priced junk,” added Urbanspoon user Jojo Carosella.
In a review of the Lansdale store, CitySearch user Karen M was even more critical.
“I have always left this store MAD!!! Always a hassle with coupons. They would not even honor their own sale price in the circular for baby formula… I haven’t been back to Weis since. I don’t need the hassle they give me.”
Weis has said the suburban Philadelphia stores it acquired—including the Conshohocken location—will operate under the Genuardi's name until the deal is finalized
