After Nearly 50 Years, Anthony’s Barber Shop for Sale

The 318 Fayette Street building that houses Anthony’s Barber Shop is up for sale, but the nearly half-century-old business will continue to operate until the deed changes hands, the president of DeMedio Keystone Realty Group told Patch last week.

Gary DeMedio said the building has been up for sale since the first of the year, but while there’s been considerable interest expressed in the property, no formal offers have been made. The asking price is $689,000 and DeMedio estimates a sale in the next three to four months.

“It’s a huge building and Conshohocken is seeing a lot of activity now,” he added.

DeMedio said it became apparent the building would have to be sold when Anthony’s proprietor Rudy Lincul, who opened the shop in 1965, passed away in September of 2010.

Anthony’s barber Tony Stivaletti, who’s been with the shop since it opened in 1965, isn't too sentimental about the end of the road. He said that when the building sells, he plans to retire.

“I don’t have to work anymore. I’m already [practically] retired,” he laughed.

Though it’s unclear what the three-unit space will hold next, DeMedio said his group has received interest from barber shops, a cafe, a day spa, a comic book retailer, an accounting firm, an antique store, and a specialty food grocer, among others.
