PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — An armed man fled from police after attempting to steal from the Target in Plymouth Township last week, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on Aug. 15 at the store on 2250 Chemical Road.
Johnathan Latore Shaquan Ward was caught by loss prevention officers with multiple containers of baby formula, police said.
When Plymouth Township police arrived, Ward fled out the front doors of the store and across the parking lot, according to authorities.
As he fled, Ward stopped to throw a loaded Glock 9mm handgun into a sewer grate, officials said.
He was taken into custody shortly after that behind DSW Shoe Warehouse.
Because Ward has prior convictions, he was not legally allowed to own the firearm, police said.
He was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $50,000 bail.
He was charged with felony firearms charges and misdemeanor counts of theft and evading arrest.
A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
