Dentist Lynda I. Bard, DMD, a Plymouth Meeting Resident, Gives Free Talk on Healthy Smiles for Seniors at The Watermark at Logan Square on January 17
A free Lunch & Learn series on maturing health continues on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at The Watermark at Logan Square in Center City, when Dr. Lynda I. Bard, DMD of Dental Arts, and a resident of Plymouth Meeting, addresses “Dental Health for Seniors.”
Since the modern approach to dentistry combines education as well as treatment, Dr. Bard will share information on newer dental hygiene products that are exceptionally beneficial in helping seniors to maintain oral health and best practices that attendees should seek from their own dentists. The topics will include screening for oral cancer, the challenges of senior dexterity in mouth care and the unexpected impact of common prescription medicines on oral health. There is limited seating for this special talk and advance reservation is required for admission.
“Just as many elderly people do with their physician appointments, senior patients would really benefit by having a caring person come into the dental exam with them,” explained Dr. Bard. “As we age, our dexterity may diminish due to arthritis or Parkinson’s disease. I can recommend new kinds oral care devices, like soft dental picks, that are easier to use. Another person joining the appointment can remind the patient of important techniques they learned or refresh the patient’s memory about recommendations for ways to adjust their dental care routines.”
