Arrested Montco Woman Was Caught Up In Hertz Rental Car Company Snafu

Hertz has reportedly settled dozens of lawsuits by customers who said they were targeted when their vehicles were wrongly reported stolen.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A local woman says she was humiliated after being arrested by Plymouth Township police officers after a call came in regarding a stolen vehicle, a car, it turns out, that was actually falsely reported as stolen by the rental car company Hertz.

That victim, Saleema Lovelace, was handcuffed by police in January 2021 after officers believed she was operating a stolen vehicle, according to a report in 6 ABC.

Now, it is being reported that rental giant Hertz has agreed to settle nearly three dozen lawsuits that had been initiated by similar customers who claimed the rental car agency wrongly reported their vehicles as stolen when they actually weren't.
