Man Hospitalized after Nighttime Lafayette Hill Shooting

A 32-year-old man is in stable condition at Temple University Hospital after police say he was attacked and shot outside his family's home on the 4100 block of Joshua Road, Lafayette Hill on Tuesday night.

According to a press release from the Whitemarsh Police Department, officers promptly responded to the scene at approximately 9:29 p.m. for the reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they were told that a 32-year-old male resident had been shot several times and was already being transported by his mother to Chestnut Hill Hospital, located approximately two miles away.

At the hospital, the victim was interviewed by Philadelphia Police officers, and told police that he had brought a female from the Mt. Airy/ Germantown section of Philadelphia to his family home that evening. Upon arriving at the home and exiting his car, he was attacked and shot several times, the release said. It was unclear to the victim or police whether there were multiple assailants.

He was able to get away from the shooter(s) by running through a thick brush area to the rear of the house. The shooter(s) and the female then all fled the scene in an unknown vehicle, reportedly southbound on Joshua Road, the release said.

Whitemarsh Police remained on scene to interview witnesses and other family members who were inside the house at the time. Four bullet casings, along with other unspecified evidence, were found in the driveway of the home and around the residents' parked cars, the report said.

The victim was transferred to Temple University Hospital for treatment and was in stable condition as of 1:23 a.m. Wednesday morning, the release says. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Whitemarsh Township Police at 610-825-6530.

Whitemarsh Police were assisted in their investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Detective Bureau and members of the Barren Hill Fire Company.
