Colonial Middle School Teacher Arrested on Indecent Assault Charges

William Schellinger was arrested for allegedly touching five former students.

William Schellinger, a Colonial Middle School Teacher, was arrested by Plymouth Township Police Thursday on charges of indecent assault and corruption of minors, according to a release from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

 Schellinger, 41, is alleged to have “initiated inappropriate contact” with five former male students, ranging in age from 15 to 18, according to the release.

“During tutoring or mentoring sessions, Schellinger began to inappropriately touch the former students on their shoulders and back are and eventually progressed to more intimate parts of the body,” County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said in a statement. “At different points of the sessions, Schellinger rubbe the back, stomach, chest, nipples, upper thigh or buttocks of the victims. The contact made the victims feel uncomfortable and as a result they either told Schellinger to stop, left the classroom or discontinued the tutoring sessions altogether.”

The Plymouth Township police department investigated Schellinger in October for allegedly touching a student, according to a report from the Times Herald. Schellinger has been suspended without pay since the initial investigation, according to a release from Superintendent MaryEllen Gorodetzer.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 13.
