Colonial School District: District Announces 2021 Black History Month Theme

Dear Colonial Community,

Since 1976, in celebration of the accomplishments, achievements and numerous contributions of African Americans, the month of February has maintained the national designation of Black History Month. While the Colonial School District remains committed to ensuring that the recognition of diversity is celebrated each and every day, we acknowledge the significant importance of Black History Month.

Nationally, the 2021 theme for Black History Month is The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity. Our District seeks to highlight this theme through the focus of "Culture and Honor." During the month of February, our schools will provide a myriad of educational learning exercises, expressions and activities that celebrate and honor Black culture, identity and influence. Equally, we continue to promote respect, civility, inclusion and equity in humanity throughout our District and community.
