Dear Colonial Families:
Find out what's happening in Plymouth-Whitemarshfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
I am contacting you today to ask you to complete a commitment questionnaire as we plan for the February 1 through April 2 time frame (end of Spring Break). We are asking for a commitment from each family so that we may plan appropriately. The COVID-19 positivity and incidence rates in our area remain in the "substantial" range. While we understand some families desire more in-person opportunities, we must continue our mitigation efforts, which includes six feet of social distancing, mask wearing and smaller class sizes.
Since December, in-person attendance has been lower at the secondary level, particularly at the high school. Your candid responses will help in our planning. We have noticed families choosing to keep children in a remote setting resulting in classes at the secondary level with fewer students. Elementary attendance has been quite consistent throughout the first half of the year.
Please complete this questionnaire by Sunday, January 17. If you have more than one child in Colonial School District schools, please complete a separate questionnaire for each child.
If you choose to attend virtually/remotely through April 2, you will still have an opportunity to request in-person learning for the final months of school. We are hopeful that the spring will provide an increased opportunity for in-person learning. Accurate data is required for planning in the event that lower positivity rates and vaccination distribution enable the District to increase days for in-person learning.
Thank you for your support and your patience during this time. We look forward to continuing to offer quality educational experiences that benefit the students virtually and in the classroom.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Christian, Ed.D.
