Colonial School District Student Spotlight – Jimmy Toth

Congratulations to Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) Sophomore Jimmy Toth, who was recently named Harmonville Fire Company's Junior Firefighter of the Year.

"My favorite part of being in the fire service is being able to help others," he said.

Jimmy joined the Harmonville Fire Company at age 14 — following a family tradition. His father has been a firefighter there for more than 25 years.

Junior Firefighters assist on fire calls and help out around the firehouse handling hoses and gear and working on the trucks. They also participate in training activities.

"The biggest challenge is the number of hours you need to put in," said Jimmy.

Even with all of the hard work, he still finds it rewarding.

"You get to be a part of the community and form new friendships," said Jimmy, noting that anyone interested in becoming a Junior Firefighter should visit the Harmonville Fire Company website or any fire department local to them.
