Traditionally, students would voluntarily take time in the middle of the day to show unity by coming together as a school to walk the campus or take a lap around the football field. However, 2021 is not a traditional year.

This year, everyone is encouraged to take part when it's convenient for you! The #ColonialWalk4Unity will take place virtually throughout the District as individuals and families take time during the day on Sunday, February 21, to walk in honor of unity.

Participants should follow social distancing guidelines and can show their unity by:

  • Carrying signs

  • Wearing unity face masks or t-shirts with related messages

  • Chanting or singing

  • Sharing photos on social media with the hashtag #ColonialWalk4Unity

  • Sending your photos for the BCA archives and to be shared on the District website and social media.

  • "The Unity Walk is a good way to show you care," said Colonial Middle School (CMS) eighth grader and BCA Club member Kayla Holmes. "It shows that you don't like when things are not equal and you want equality."

This year’s walk also serves as a fundraiser for the BCA Scholarship Fund, and the club is asking for a voluntary $4 donation per person. Click here to donate.

Note that if you can't walk on Sunday, February 21, you can walk any other day that works for you in February! Click here to send in your photos.
