Dave Matthews Band Chows Down on Produce from Local Farm
Maple Acres Farm, in Plymouth Meeting, supplied DMB with several meals during shows last month.
When the Dave Matthews Band was in Camden for a show last month, band members instructed their personal chefs to find local, organic ingredients for their lunch and dinner.
After a search, those chefs landed on in Plymouth Meeting, a farm known for its variety of wholesome produce.
"We went down to Camden and took care of them," says Kim Butler, manager at the farm. "[Dave] liked it so much that they asked us to drive up to Hershey two days later."
Butler says that she believes DMB's staff chose the farm because of the diversity of its products. Matthews is an outspoken supporter of Farm Aid, a nonprofit with a mission to protect independent farmers and their land.
"I think they do a search when they come into cities for those kinds of farms," Butler said. "We offer meat, milk, rice, flowers and more."
Butler says they provided the ingredients for lunch and dinner during the band's two shows in Camden and a show in Hershey. In addition, DMB purchased table flower arrangements from the farm.
According to the Maple Acres Farm Facebook page, the farm was founded in 1912 and has been in family hands for four generations. It is located at 2656 Narcissa Road, Plymouth Meeting, directly behind the Plymouth Meeting Mall. Click here to visit the farm's website.
