Germantown Academy's sophomore track standout Megan McCloskey earned All-American status this weekend by placing 4th in the high jump at the New Balance Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Competing in North Carolina, McCloskey cleared her first three heights of 5'-2.25", 5'-4.5", and 5'-6.5" on one attempt each.
That gave her the edge over other competitors who topped out at 5'-6.5" and secured fourth place. All three top finishers were seniors, making McCloskey the top returning jumper in 2013. McCloskey cleared 5'9" earlier this year, the 18th highest jump recorded nationally in 2012.
In other events, junior Ben Ritz qualified for the championship mile and finished 17th overall with a time of 4:32.10. Brother and freshman Sam Ritz finished 11th in the freshman mile in 4:32.74.
