
Senior guard Jaryn Garner '12 hit a pull-up jumper with nine seconds to go in in the fourth quarter of Friday night's Inter-Ac League contest between Germantown Academy and visiting Springside Chesnut Hill Academy to tie the game at 33-33 forcing overtime. In overtime, the Patriots outscored the Lions, 7-2, to win, 40-35.
Junior guard/forward Kiernan McCloskey '13 had her 10th double-double of the season by notching 20 points and 10 rebounds. Garner finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Junior guard Fran Sweeney '13 (four points) shot 100 percent from the free throw line, including the four clutch shots she made down the stretch.
Juniors Dempsey Cooper, Natalie Toner and Angela Upright each chipped in
with two points.
The visiting Patriots raced to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter last Wednesday against the Peddie School and never looked back en route to an easy 60-30 victory.
Senior Jary Garner '12 netted 16 points. The University of Virginia bound guard also pulled down six rebounds and dished out four assists. Junior Kiernan McCloskey '13 earned another double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) while fellow junior Natalie Toner '13 added eight points of her own.
Sophomore Breezy Cullen '14 tallied five points and four different Patriots notched four points for the visitors, including: junior Dempsey Cooper '13, junior Angela Upright '13, sophomore Megan McCloskey '14 and freshman Olivia Gorman '15. Senior Sarah Armstrong '12 scored two points.
