Griswold Home Care Celebrating “35 Years at Home”

Since 1982, Griswold Home Care has been providing compassionate, empathetic care to the elderly and those who are sick or recovering from injury. The company is marking its 35th Anniversary on April 26 by saluting its caregivers and reminding the public that remaining in one’s home can be a fulfilling and economical option for those who can. The slogan for the anniversary year is “35 Years at Home.”

“For 35 years, Griswold has continued founder Jean Griswold’s mission to help the elderly age in place with dignity, and in a way that allows them to stay connected and independent,” said Matt Murphy, Griswold Home Care’s CEO. “During that time, Griswold caregivers have become part of their clients’ families, and they have become part of ours as well.”

Jean Griswold had been battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years when she learned that a fellow parishioner in her church passed away because she did not have the support to help with her daily needs, including eating and drinking. Upon investigation, Jean learned there were very few resources available to provide overnight or 24-hour care for those who most needed them – the elderly and infirmed – so she set out to help solve the problem, launching a home care company out of her dining room in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Thirty-five years later, Griswold Home Care has helped hundreds of thousands of adults live in the place they love. The company is recognized as one of the oldest home care companies and one of the first to find caregivers who could provide 24-hour care. Griswold presently has over 200 independent and company-owned offices in 32 states.

“I feel there are few callings as important as what we do for others in the community. We love having a positive impact on peoples’ lives,” said Murphy. “Our caregivers don’t just show compassion, they are compassionate by nature. That’s one of the main reasons Griswold is going strong at 35.”
