Local Cub Scouts Primed for Pinewood

Unser? Earnhardt? Formula 1? NASCAR? Mario Kart? Nope! This is all about kids and their hand-crafted super cars!

“Gentlemen, start your engines!” Vroom, vroom! You may be thinking Daytona, but those “engines” are revving for the Cub Scouts’ annual Pinewood Derby speed trials, and the Cubs of Pack 117, which meets at Epiphany of Our Lord in Plymouth Meeting, are serious about making their Pinewood cars the coolest and fastest in the whole district.

In fact Pack 117 will host this year’s Pinewood Derby Grand Finale on Saturday, February 21, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1710 Bethlehem Pike in Flourtown.  The races begin at 10 a.m. and families are welcomed.

Boys from 6 to 10 are invited to join Cub Scouts, so this is a grand time to see what Cub Scouts are about! It’s lots of fun, so bring the family, too! For more information contact R.J. Wiechecki at 484-213-2289 or robert.wiechecki@scouting.org .
