Medal Of Honor Recipient Gather In Plymouth

The four honorees were in town for a radio show promoting a charity event benefiting the families of fallen service members.

Four of the 79 living Medal of Honor recipients gathered in Plymouth Tuesday for a radio promotion of a charity benefiting fallen soldiers, according to a Times Herald report.

On-hand were Vietnam veterans Col. Harvey C. “Barney” Barnum Jr., USMC, Navy Seal Michael E. Thornton, Army 1st Lt. Brian M. Thacker, and Marine Chief Warrant Officer Hershel “Woody” Williams, according to the report.

The veterans gathered at Andy’s Diner Tuesday for a special live broadcast of the Dom Giordano radio show. The “Gathering of Heroes” fundraiser took place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, the report states.

The event included auctions with prizes like a suite at a Phillies game, VIP tickets to an Army-Navy game, a hunting trip to Quantico, Va., and a $300,000 education bond given to families of Marines and soldiers killed in a helicopter training accident in Florida last month, the report states.
