It is not clear what started the confrontation between Ojeda-Flores and the victim, his 42-year-old roommate. A fight began, during which Ojeda-Flores stabbed the victim in the face and nose, causing heavy bleeding, police said.

Police said Ojeda-Flores was covered with blood and, when he saw the officer, charged towards him.

The officer used a taser to subdue Ojeda-Flores, and he was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Police also uncovered a small amount of narcotics on Ojeda-Flores' person after his arrest.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. His facial wound will require surgery.
