Montco Students Bring Home World Championship From Mind Competition

Seniors at Abington Senior High School have won a world title at a recent international problem solving competition.

The Abington Senior High School Galloping Ghosts are the national champions.

Their team of seven seniors recently won the World Finals in their division at the Odyssey of the Mind, an international problem solving competition at Michigan State University.

Abington’s team won Problem 3, Pandora’s Box, in Division III at the event, which was held from May 20-23.

Team members included Christopher Doyle, Tara Santora, Max Mindel, Andrew Giguere, Nick Fitzpatrick, Gil Wermeling, and Rob Galloway.

Their final score in the event was 344.95, which just bested a team from Poland by slightly more than two points, a tight margin.

The Odyssey of the Mind describes itself as an international educational program that challenges kindergarten through college students with problem-solving tests.
