Tropical Storm Ida exceeded the predictions of severity. First Responders were inundated with emergency calls starting at 6 p.m. last night. This included dozens of water rescues throughout the Township.

Severe winds hit our area with Montgomery County confirming an EF-2 Tornado hitting the Fort Washington/Upper Dublin area nearby. Our emergency services worked throughout the evening and into the morning to ensure all calls were handled and residents taken care of.

This storm produced significant rain fall of up to over 8 inches in precipitation. In addition to the flash flooding, the Schuylkill River hit a record high of over 27 feet which cause flooding in low lying areas near the river. This caused the need to assist residents with evacuation once the storm passed.

Conditions in some areas of the Township remain hazardous, especially along the Schuylkill River which is predicted to reach a historic level. Leave your home only if you must and please use caution when you do.

Several homes and businesses in the Township have suffered significant damage. Our thoughts go out to residents and business owners who have been hit hard by the storm. If you can, please assist a neighbor or friend in any way you can.
