Update: Pedestrian Struck by Car at Whole Foods in Good Condition

Hospital staff say 81-year-old man is recovering.

An 81-year-old Flourtown man is in good condition at the Hospital of the University of the Philadelphia after being struck by a car last week, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday morning.

As , the elderly gentleman was airlifted to the facility by helicopter after he was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the at the Plymouth Meeting Mall at approximately 2 p.m. last Wednesday.

Police had little information at the time, but a report now shows that a 23-year-old Ambler man was driving a 2007 Ford Ranger through the parking lot when he accidentally struck the victim. According to the report, the driver was traveling north through the parking lot, toward the store, and went to make a left to drive alongside the storefront. However, upon turning, the driver told police he didn't see the victim crossing the traffic way until it was too late, and struck him with the front of the vehicle.

According to the police report, the incident was designated as an accident. A search of Montgomery County Court System records shows that no charges have been filed against the driver.
