Walmart Supplier Recalling 90,000 Pounds Of Beef Patties

NORRISTOWN, PA - A Minnesota company is recalling nearly 90,000 pounds of hamburgers it supplied to Walmart, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Huisken Meat Company, based in Sauk Rapids, Minn., is recalling 89,568 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous wood materials, the department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Monday.

Walmart has 160 locations in Pennsylvania, including superstores in Norristown, King of Prussia, Willow Grove, and Exton.

The meat affected by the recall is the Sam’s Choice Black Angus beef patties with 19 percent Vidalia Onion with use-by dates of May 17, 2016, May 29, 2016, and June 6, 2016. The recall includes 2-pound boxes containing six pieces of the patties and the establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

They were shipped to retail locations nationwide, the FSIS notice said.

The foreign material originated with an incoming ingredient and was discovered during production, according to the notice. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
