Weis Markets to Open in Conshy Saturday

Pharmacy reopens Monday at noon.

A new Weis Markets grocery store will reopen at the former site of Genuardi's, located at 200 Ridge Pike in Conshohocken, on Saturday, according to a press release.

The opening is scheduled for 6 a.m.

Weis announced the purchase of the Genaurdi's, along with locations in East Norriton and Doylestown, last winter. The chain then closed the store on Saturday June 9, giving itself a week the prepare for the reopening.

According to the release, Weis kept 218 former Genuardi's workers on board, and hired an additional 150 workers over the three locations.

"[This] will allow each store to double the number of cashiers it employs and increase front-end service," the release said.

In addition, Weis will open each store's pharmacy at noon Monday to limit service disruption, the release said.

Weis Markets, now in its 100th year, will operate 162 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and West Virginia following the openings.
