W.W Smith Charitable Trust, a private foundation in West Conshohocken focused on providing basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter, recently announced a grant of $30,000 to Devereux, a leading nonprofit behavioral healthcare organization headquartered in Villanova.

The funds will be used to purchase essential items for children with behavioral and emotional healthcare needs that receive care through Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Behavioral Health Services and Community Services programs. Items in high demand include hygiene kits to be distributed to students in the School District of Philadelphia, in which Devereux provides School-Based Social Services to select schools, as well as basic clothing.

“With almost 1,000 children served by our Children’s Behavioral Health Services and Community Services’ programs in need of some form of emergency clothing and basic hygienic products, W.W. Smith’s generous grant will make a huge difference in many lives” said Robert Kreider, President and CEO of Devereux. “This grant will enable Devereux to invest more resources in programming that will directly improve the lives of some of our society’s most vulnerable citizens.”

In addition to the $30,000 being donated by the W.W. Smith Charitable Trust in 2012, the organization previously provided a $21,000 grant to Devereux Pennsylvania in 2010 and $15,000 in 2009.
