Woman, Children Hid In Bathroom Of Plymouth Twp. Home During Break-In: Police

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — A woman remained on the phone with police, hiding with her young children in the bathroom, as a man broke into their Plymouth Township home, police said.

The incident occurred on Monday, Aug. 24 at 1:45 p.m. on the 2900 block of Arch Road.

The victim told police that a man, later identified as Juan Medina, was banging loudly on the side door of the home, authorities said.

Medina then started to break in, eventually gaining access to the kitchen, police said.

The woman stayed on the line with dispatch as she retreated with her children up into the bathroom and locked the door.

Medina was later taken into custody by officers who spotted him walking out the side door of the home as they arrived.

Medina had items in his possession that belonged to at least one other home on the 3000 block of Arch Road, police said.

Local residents should check surveillance cameras and contact police if they have any information.

Medina was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, and numerous related counts.

He was arraigned by District Judge Patrick Krouse and booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $50,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Sept. 8.
