WPD Reports: Pair of Burglaries, Magician's Equipment Disappears

All information is according to official police reports filed at the Whitemarsh Township Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary:
At approximately 6:42 p.m. on Sep. 10, residents of the 100 block of Carriage Court, Plymouth Meeting, reported a completed burglary at their residence. According to the victims, a screen door on the first floor of their residence was cut and the front door unlocked.

Officers cleared the house before determining a dresser in the master bedroom had been rummaged through and a pillowcase stolen from the room. The residents identified the following objects, valued at $6,500, as stolen:

• Woman’s 1969 Methacton High School ring with green stone
• Men’s West Catholic High School ring with blue stone
• Women’s 1940 gold class ring, possibly Souderton High School
• Women’s white gold wedding band inscribed with “Forever yours, Bill”
• 12-14k gold bangle bracelets
• Opal necklace and earrings
• Various costume jewelry

Burglary:
At approximately 3:06 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 13, Whitemarsh police responded to the 4100 block of Redwood Road, Lafayette Hill, for the report of a burglary. A woman who said she was checking on her parent’s house while they were away for vacation told police she entered the home through a locked front door and found the back door broken into.

Police cleared the house and discovered that multiple drawers had been rummaged through. The only item the woman could say was missing for sure was her mother’s jewelry box.

Theft from magician:
At approximately 12:17 p.m. on Monday, Sep. 10, police were called to the 4000 block of Joshua Road after a magician reported that an unknown person had stolen several items he uses in his magic act.

According to the victim, he was unloading the items from his truck, placing them on the curb before bringing them inside. At one point he returned to find a man looking through the objects, who then told the magician that he thought the items were being put out for trash and that he witnessed another individual load several of the items into a vehicle.

According to the victim, the following items were stolen, totaling $2,491 in value:

• Black bag
• Red bag
• Sound equipment cables
• Wireless microphone system
• Black “roll around” bag
• Powered speaker
• Speaker
• Briefcase containing a magic trick consisting of two picture frames

Suspected DUI accident:
At approximately 4:58 a.m. on Thursday, Sep. 13, police responded to the 400 block of Holly Court, Lafayette Hill, for the report of an accident involving a parked vehicle.

Upon WPD arrival, Plymouth Police had already responded to the scene and placed a 23-year-old Lafayette Hill man into custody for suspicion of DUI. The suspect was transported to an area hospital to have his blood drawn for testing.

Criminal mischief:
At approximately 8:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 11, a resident of the 200 block of Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, reported to police that someone had broken the passenger side window of his vehicle sometime overnight.
