Investigators said Barnes, Williams, the victim Dakari Rome, and another 17–year-old boy had been playing the “Orbeez Challenge,” a TikTok challenge involving shooting water beads from an airsoft gun.

The group was together inside an Audi. It’s not yet clear what happened next, but at some point Barnes, who was driving the car, shot the 17-year-old in the hand, police said.
