POTTSTOWN, PA — To his family and friends, Pottstown resident Xavier Jeffers was a beacon of joy. He loved his hobbies. He loved spending time with his young niece and nephew, playing them and making them laugh.
"He brought so much joy to everyone around him," shared his mother, Tara Bumbarger. "He loved spending time with his friends, watching anime, and collecting Pokémon. He was also a wonderful uncle."
But now Jeffers, just 20-years-old, is gone. He was shot to death in the bedroom of a West Street home Wednesday night. Police said they believe he knew his killer, but no additional details, including a motive or circumstances leading up to the incident, have been released.
"Xavier’s passing was completely unexpected, and our family is heartbroken," his mother added.
A GoFundMe for Xavier's family was launched on Thursday. It's gained wide support from the community, with more than $7,000 raised from 129 donations as of Friday afternoon.
Police, meanwhile, are still searching for answers. If you have any information, call Montgomery County Detectives at (610) 278-3368.
