POTTSTOWN, PA — One local Pottstown family lost everything in the midst of destruction from a recent storm, and the community is rallying to help.

Powerful winds and thunderstorms rocked through the region on May 20 and had particularly severe impacts in the Pottstown area, where large trees were brought down into homes, buildings, vehicles, and electrical wires.

Todd was not at home. Shirley was, but miraculously was not hurt.

"By the grace and protection of God, Shirley was unharmed," family friend Catherine Zuniga wrote in a GoFundMe for the family.

But the damage was done.

"The devastation has left them facing the difficult reality of home displacement, with many days, weeks, and months ahead as they work through structural restoration and repair," Zuniga added.

The family needs temporary housing, food, and funds to help cover the cost of repairs.

A little more than $1,000 had been raised as of Wednesday afternoon, from 7 donors.
