POTTSTOWN, PA — A Pottstown man installed hidden cameras in a southwestern Pennsylvania home to record a child undressing, the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General announced Wednesday.
Adam Benjamin Arena, 46, faces more than 100 felony charges of production and possession of child sexual abuse material.
In 2024, Arena was formerly a resident of Brownsville in Fayette County, a community about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh.
While there, Arena installed an unknown number of hidden cameras in the child's home, primarily in the shower and the bathroom, police said.
One of the cameras, located inside a shampoo bottle, was discovered by the child, according to authorities.
“This is abhorrent conduct that has no place in a civilized society,” Attorney General Dave Sunday said, noting it was among "the worst crimes imaginable."
Arena moved to Pottstown after he was discovered, the attorney general's office said. Social media profiles indicate that Arena is a stand-up comic and actor.
A search warrant uncovered numerous videos and images captured by Arena through the hidden cameras, police said. They added that some videos even showed Arena installing the cameras and retrieving them.
Arena was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday, May 25. He was denied bail and was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 8.
