Safety Crackdown On Route 422 Monday Leads To 18 Speeding Citations

WEST POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police pulled over 26 vehicles during a traffic safety crackdown along Route 422 in West Pottsgrove Monday morning.

The enforcement action comes as drivers continually point to unsafe conditions on the oft-congested highway, including wild speeding and lane shifting, as crews work to address issues with the road surface.

Of the 26 vehicles pulled over by police Monday morning, 20 citations were issued.

Nearly all citations, 18 of them, were for speeding. One vehicle was recorded going as fast as 91 miles per hour, police said.

One citation was given for inspection issues, while another was given for "obedience to traffic control devices."

Eight vehicles received written warnings.

West Pottsgrove Police were assisted by Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Matthew Cunningham in the initiative.
