Montgomery County IDA Awards $5,000 Grant to Help Steel River Playhouse Plan for the Future (montco.today) β Steel River Playhouse in downtown Pottstown just received a $5,000 Community Benefit Grant from the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority to plan long-term improvements to its High Street theatre building. The funding will pay for a professional study of needed capital upgrades, helping keep the venue safe, functional, and vibrant as a cultural hub for performances, classes, and community events.

2. New Trail Link Opens 70-Mile Philadelphia-Reading Route (mychesco.com) β Cyclists and walkers in Pottstown now have a safer, continuous Schuylkill River Trail connection linking Industrial Highway to the Route 422 bridge, closing a major gap between Philadelphia and Reading. The nearly mile-long, $1.28 million project improves access from Chester County, strengthens Pottstown's role in the regional trail network, and could boost local tourism and spending along the riverfront.

Montgomery County food safety inspections found rodent droppings, ice build up and plumbing leaks (pottsmerc.com subscription) β Montgomery County's latest food safety inspections turned up a range of issues, from temperature problems to pest concerns, at restaurants across the county. In Pottstown, Jake's Wayback Burgers on Upland Square Drive was cited for a broken thermometer in a cooler, which must be replaced, while many other establishments elsewhere faced more extensive violations and required fixes.

Pottstown Artists Guild Prepares for Oct. 30 Member Show (travelswiththepost.com) β Local artists and neighbors can mark Oct. 30 for the Pottstown Area Artists Guild Members Show opening at Montgomery County Community College's North Hall Gallery on High Street. The free exhibit, food-drive reception, and November artist talks offer Pottstown residents an easy way to enjoy regional art, support the Cluster food pantry, and explore multiple creative mediums close to home.
