Students in Ms.Rebecca Wyatt’s second grade class received hands-on experience in science when they paid a visit to the DaVinci Science Center in Allentown. The center is a hands-on science museum where children are able to touch and experience many different science topics.
“Our students were excited about the trip and once we arrived and they saw all of the opportunities for them to learn about science by hands-on experimenting they
were overjoyed,” said Ms. Wyatt. Students were able to explore an entire floor of exhibits devoted to forces in motion. They also tried out their building skills using wooden blocks while at the same time learning about engineering. The “Tunnel of Vision” and “Shadow Room” gave them experiences in the human senses. There were some electrifying moments as the students participated in experiments in electricity and light. The highlight of the day was their participation in a science lab where
they were able to create their own slime.
Mr. Matt Moyer, Rupert Principal, said, “It is experiences such as these that provide our youngsters with opportunities to learn and expand their horizons while at the same time having fun.”
