What six months of motherhood will teach you
I know every new mom says this, but now I know why: Where does the time go?
What have I learned in half a year of parenting? The first, and probably biggest discovery is that I can do this! It seems silly now, but six months ago, I really didn’t think I could.
- I actually can survive on less than eight hours’ sleep. I don’t like to, and it’s not pretty, but it’s humanly possible.
- It is different when it’s your own. The pooping, the screaming, the midnights, even the puke is tolerable when it’s coming from my sweet little bear.
- I miss doing things on my schedule: showering, eating, watching TV.
- The only thing worse than having a horrible stomach virus is having a horrible stomach virus and a baby who can’t understand that Mommy is sick. Oh, and a husband with the same stomach virus is pretty terrible, too.
- Stubborn is genetic. And God help the offspring of two stubborn parents. (God help the parents, too!)
