Chestnut Knoll participates in Boyertown Relay for Life

Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care recently participated in the 2013 Boyertown Relay for Life, where they raised over $5,000. The relay was held Saturday, June 22 at the Boyertown Area Senior High School, but the Chestnut Knoll team continues to work hard and is determined to achieve $6,000 by the end of August!

“Chestnut Knoll is always proud to participate in community events,” said Shawn Barndt, executive director. “We particularly enjoy keeping our residents engaged in the Boyertown area events so as to facilitate maintaining the connections and ties to the community that the residents have had all of their lives.”

Residents were transported to the event in the Chestnut Knoll van on Saturday evening to walk at the event. In addition, a team was built made up of volunteers, staff, friends, and family members who ensured that Chestnut Knoll was represented on the track for the entire 24 hours.

Kicking off the fundraising this year, Chestnut Knoll hosted a night at Greshville Inn to raise money for Relay for Life. They were able to raise $1,800 at this event, as well as achieve personal goals that were set, such as team captain Jennifer Diehl dying her hair pink if they reached $1,000 that night.

“Chestnut Knoll and our residents are a part of the Boyertown area community and we want to do our part to help whenever we can, such as supporting relay for life,” said Barndt. “Cancer never rests and neither do we!”

Chestnut Knoll offers Personal Care and Memory Care residences at an affordable month-to-month basis with no buy-in fees.
