Crafting Gratitude

The Upland Square A.C. Moore participated in the chain's national event to make thank you cards for American troops.

The Upland Square A.C. Moore participated in the company's national Summer Fest today. The organization's goal was to make 10,000 hand crafted cards for U.S. troops overseas. The Pottstown branch featured the card making as well as other activities.

"We are having a kids fest here," said manager Herb Berkey. "It's got a patriotic theme."

At various stations around the store, children could purchase a stars and stripes T-shirt to decorate, create candy confections and receive temporary tattoos.

"We handle all the supplies and the kids do the decorating," Berkey said.

The event also featured an hourly giveaway with prizes including gift cards and a trip to the Crayola Factory in Easton.

A.C. Moore will ship all the cards made to U.S. service men and women stationed abroad.

"We send them in to the home office and they'll be shipped all overseas from headquarters," Berkey said.
