Montco DA Names 2 More Suspects In Oct. 23 Pottstown Fatal Shooting

Montgomery County's District Attorney is seeking 2 more suspects in the Oct. 23 Pottstown shooting that was ruled a homicide.

POTTSTOWN, PA — New video surveillance of a murder in Pottstown last week showed the victim was being robbed before he was shot to death, and two suspects are added to the list of those charged and sought by authorities.

The announcement brings the total to four who are wanted in connection to the shooting death of Robert Stiles, 27, last weekend. One suspect is a juvenile.

New surveillance video showed the suspects got away from the murder scene in a stolen van and went afterward to get food at a Wawa in Royersford, according to Friday's news release from the Montgomery County DA's Office.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Pottstown Police Chief Mick Markovich announced Friday morning that two new arrest warrants have been issued related to the Oct. 23 shooting death of Stiles in Pottstown.

Warrants for Daijon Harrison, 22, and Ahmad Mohammed, 16, both of Philadelphia, on charges of first-degree murder and related charges were filed on Oct. 28, the DA's Office said.

Previously, warrants were issued for Samir Bentley, 20, of Philadelphia, and Eric Baker, 26, of Norristown, who are still being sought, the DA's statement said on Friday.

The District Attorney's Office reported Stiles' murder happened on Saturday, Oct. 23. Pottstown Police were dispatched at 8:26 p.m. to 429 E. High St. A police officer found Stiles lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, according to the DA's report.

Montgomery County Detectives and Pottstown Police launched a joint homicide investigation.

The homicide was captured on multiple surveillance cameras, authorities said. New video and audio showed that Stiles was being robbed. The video shows the victim was grabbed by Mohammed, who pulled him into an area in front of 429 High St., then Bentley and Harrison approach, according to the District Attorney's Office.

The DA's report said Harrison then pulled a gun from his waistband and handed it to Bentley, who shot Stiles three times. The victim then fell to the sidewalk. The three men then ran to a dark-colored minivan, the report said.

The DA said in the video, as the minivan pulls away, Baker can be seen firing an assault rifle at the minivan as it flees.

As Stiles is lying on the sidewalk, he can be heard on the audio saying, "I'm shot, I'm shot, Bro I'm shot, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me, help me," the report said.

He can also be seen discarding a clear plastic bag, throwing it several feet from where he is lying. This bag was later recovered at the scene and found to contain several ounces of marijuana, according to the DA's report.

Pottstown Police identified the Chrysler Town and Country minivan used as the getaway vehicle and discovered that it had been reported stolen in Philadelphia on Oct. 13. The investigation found that the minivan had been abandoned with a flat tire in Royersford and was towed from a location across from the Wawa store on Main Street.

Wawa surveillance video showed Bentley and Mohammed entering the store at 8:50 p.m., a little more than 20 minutes after the murder, and purchased food, then left the store, the DA's report said.

"These three men, including a juvenile with an outstanding warrant, drove a stolen vehicle to Pottstown from Philadelphia to rob Robert Stiles of marijuana and then killed him," said Steele.

"What they need to know is that in Montgomery County, we solve our murders, and we will find these wanted criminals and prosecute them on all charges," Steele added.

Harrison is wanted on charges of rirst-degree murder, second-degree murder, third-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, person not to possess a firearm, possessing an instrument of crime, and related charges. He is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, the report said.

Mohammed is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, third-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, person not to possess a firearm, possessing an instrument of crime, and related charges. He is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds, authorities said.

Bentley is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, third-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, and possessing an instrument of crime, although additional charges are being filed. He is 5-feet, 8-inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds, the report said.

Baker is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, person not to possess a firearm and recklessly endangering another person. He is 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, the report said.

Steele's Office said anyone who spots Harrison, Mohammed, Bentley, or Baker, should call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts should contact the Pottstown Police at 610-970-6570 or call the Montgomery County Detectives' Tip Line at 610-278-DOIT (3638).
