Grenade Brought Into Lower Pottsgrove Elementary By Student
Breaking: Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School was locked down on Monday after a student brought a grenade into class.

POTTSTOWN, PA β An elementary school in Montgomery County was locked down on Monday morning after a student brought a grenade into class, according to police. No injuries have been reported.
The incident occurred at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School at around 9:20 a.m., the Pottsgrove School District said.
The Montgomery County Bomb Squad rushed to the scene, while a shelter in place was issued by the school. Students gathered in the cafeteria and the gym.

When the bomb squad arrived, they determined that the grenade was not active, the school district said.
"Due to the quick response from the classroom teacher as well as Dr. Williams and Mr. Sieller, the students were safe at all times and have returned to their normal schedule," the district said in a statement following the incident.

An all clear was given at around 10 a.m., and students were back in class before 11 a.m.
It's not yet clear why the student had the hand grenade. An investigation is ongoing, the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department said.
