How to get healthier, one habit at a time

Achieving a lifestyle change takes more than a few weeks, but the Fit 4 You Retreat is offering the tools to help some 60 participants start that change.

The Retreat, held in Boyertown and now in its 35th year, is run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, but two-thirds of the campers aren’t members.

They spend each day exercising, eating healthy vegan meals, attending seminars presented by doctors and healthcare professionals, and learning to adopt a positive lifestyle change.

"And that's our theme this year," says A. Leah Scott, executive director of the program and director of the church’s local health ministries department.

"Romans 12:1 tells us that taking care of your body is act of worship. Verse 2 says that in order to do this, we must change the way we think,” says Scott.  “So at Fit 4 You, we begin the process of changing our minds and lifestyles, using that ability to make choices."
