KeyBank Employees Volunteer Across Berks, Montgomery Counties

Employees supported the mission of various local nonprofits, part of Key's 27th annual "Neighbors Make the Difference Day"

On May 24, KeyBank employees rolled up their sleeves and participated in Key’s 27th annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day, spending the afternoon volunteering at nonprofits across Berks and Montgomery Counties. The Greater Berks Food Bank and the Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities both benefited from the extra sets of hands that helped them with their day-to-day tasks.

The Greater Berks Food Bank: KeyBank employees at the Greater Berks Food Bank assisted in sorting and packing various donated non-perishable food items to be distributed to food-insecure individuals and families across Berks and Schuylkill Counties. Based on 2015 statistics, the GBFB serves roughly 41,500 people every month, so they heavily rely on their volunteers to be able to serve all those in need.

Pottstown Cluster of Religious Communities: Key employees worked in the organization’s warehouse, where they received, sorted and distributed food donations to be distributed to those in need. The Pottstown Cluster of Religious communities provides tangible services, support and guidance to address the basic needs of individuals in and around the Greater Pottstown area.

During KeyBank’s Neighbors Make the Difference Day on May 24, approximately 200 employees volunteered at 26 community organizations across Eastern Pennsylvania. These employees joined nearly 7,000 Key employees across 15 states from Maine to Alaska to provide 28,000 volunteer hours to 900 service projects in the communities the bank serves. Neighbors Make the Difference Day was started more than 25 years ago by a group of employees in Alaska. Two years later, the idea swept across a number of communities that KeyBank serves and became an official day of employee volunteerism, now the hallmark of the bank’s commitment to its neighborhoods.
